We opened Little Otter Creek Home Veterinary Care in 2021. While I loved practicing and teaching Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Vermont, I missed full time practice and the relationships I developed with clients and their pets. I left UVM to open LOC in October and am so happy to be a full-time house call vet! Being at home, can make all the difference for pets and their families, where everyone is relaxed. In addition, I believe my medical practice has improved as I have the time to sit with each pet, in their own environment, and speak to their caregivers and family members about how they spend their time. We are not rushed ( we schedule a full hour for each wellness appointment) and we trust everyone is content, happy and well cared for when we leave for the day. It is professionally, wildly, satisfying. Little Otter Creek is the water near my farm, and it, like all water), is life giving and soothing, and seemed the perfect name for us!
My passion is medicine. I enjoy the “Sherlock-Homes” component of good medical advice and am always learning and advancing my practice. We are adding herbal medicine and acupuncture to our practice soon and also becoming FEAR FREE certified. FF is advanced training for vets and techs to employ kinder, easier ways to go about engaging pets (especially those who are afraid) in an enjoyable manner.
